Learn about the little-known impact of gallbladder removal on digestive health and the potential health problems that can result.
Is gallbladder removal routinely necessary for gallstones?
The presence of gallstones does not always require immediate surgery. Some stones are asymptomatic and cause no problems. In such cases, simple medical observation is sufficient.
However, in cases of severe pain, inflammation (cholecystitis), or complications such as bile duct obstruction, gallbladder removal often becomes unavoidable. This procedure, known as a cholecystectomy, is performed laparoscopically and helps prevent more serious complications.
