🚗 What Is a Gold Star License Plate?
Offered by nearly every U.S. state, the Gold Star license plate is a free or low-cost specialty plate that:
- Honors the deceased service member by name or designation
- Identifies the vehicle owner as an immediate family member of the fallen
- Serves as a mobile memorial—a way to keep their hero’s legacy alive in everyday life
💛 Important: These plates are not available to the general public. They require official documentation, such as a DD Form 1300 (Report of Casualty) or proof of relationship through the Department of Defense.
