When is the full moon?
Let's get back to basics. The moon has a cycle lasting approximately 28 days. During this period, the star appears to disappear in the sky and then grow, taking the shape of a quarter, a crescent, and then a full circle. This is when, about two weeks after the start of the lunar cycle, the full moon appears. To find the dates of this special event, it's best to consult a lunar calendar. They are usually marked with a white circle. After this lunar phase ends, the moon will gradually wax and wane again. This signals that the lunar cycle has ended and a new one will soon begin.
How long does a full moon last?
Although the full moon has a specific date and time, its power is said to extend over several days. Therefore, its effects were felt two or three days before and two or three days after the full moon. If, astronomically, the full moon simply refers to the moment when a star is completely illuminated by the Sun (hence its round and solid shape), then among witches and astrologers, this lunar phase would be the moment when the moon's power is most strongly felt. Hence, rituals and celebrations are held on the evenings of the full moon.
