Are you using the right compartment?
A common mistake is adding detergent directly to the drum. Although pods are designed for this purpose, most liquid or powder detergents work best when placed in the correct detergent drawer. This allows the machine to release the detergent at the right time during the wash cycle.
Most detergent drawers have three sections :
-
Pre-wash compartment (usually marked with “I”)
-
Main wash compartment (marked “II”)
-
Fabric softener compartment (marked with a flower or star symbol)
Each has a different purpose:
-
The pre-wash section is intended for longer wash programs or heavily soiled clothes.
-
Add your normal detergent to the main wash area .
-
In the fabric softener area , fabric softeners or color protection additives are added, which are released during the final rinse cycle.
Important: Never exceed the maximum fill line in any compartment. Overfilling may cause leaks or impair washing performance.
Final thoughts
Your washing machine puts in a lot of work every week, but with a little care, it will run efficiently. Regularly cleaning the detergent drawer and properly using each compartment will not only ensure cleaner, fresher clothes, but will also extend the life of your washing machine.
It only takes a few minutes a month, but the difference is immediately noticeable: your laundry smells better, feels softer, and your washing machine runs more smoothly.
