Why should you never crush a cockroach?

A hygiene and contamination problem

Squashing a cockroach also has another drawback: the dead cockroaches attract others of their kind. These insects feed on decaying organic matter, including the remains of their own kind. Instead of limiting the infestation, you risk making it worse.

During a severe infestation, crushing a cockroach can also release stress pheromones. These substances alert other cockroaches to the danger and may cause them to hide more, making eradication more difficult.

How to avoid a cockroach infestation:
Rather than squashing them, it's better to prevent their appearance with simple steps:

Maintain impeccable cleanliness.
Cockroaches are attracted to food scraps. To deter them:

Clean surfaces thoroughly after each meal (worktops, tables, hobs).
Never leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight.
Vacuum regularly, paying particular attention to corners and under furniture.
Protect food
